Hilary Kennett
Contemporary Artist

Following a career in interior design, Hilary took early retirement and began her journey in fine art.

She studied for several years gaining a BA Fine Art (First Class) from University of East London, followed by an MA Fine Art (merit) from University of Brighton.

She lives and works in West Sussex and her work is collected both locally, nationally and internationally.

‘I am fascinated by the spaces we inhabit and how we each experience them in a different way; how they affect all our senses.  My current work is inspired mainly by the countryside in Sussex where I live and also Cornwall which I visit each year.

I am particularly interested in mindful process and experimentation, finding different ways to make marks and using materials foraged from the places I visit.  This helps to ground me in the space and give my work a sense of the place.

I also experiment with different ways to produce my work, alternative methods of printing without a press and using alternative tools I may find out in nature and around the house.’
